A study at a Dutch university tracked the sleeping patterns of four hundred office workers for eighteen months. Participants who kept a consistent bedtime reported slightly better concentration during the afternoon than those whose bedtimes varied. The researchers noted that total hours slept mattered less than regularity, provided workers slept at least six hours. Shift workers were excluded from the study because their schedules could not be standardised.
